2nd Annual LVGP Race for RAACE

Allentown, PA – The turning of the calendar from March to April means that once again it is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. It is a time to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect and encourage individuals and communities to support our children and families.

For the 2nd straight year, The RAACE Foundation and The Lehigh Valley Grand Prix have teamed up with The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and Texas Roadhouse of Trexlertown, PA to commemorate April as Child Abuse Prevention Month on the evening of Thursday, April 22nd. A huge celebration is planned combining awareness and education activities, indoor go-kart racing and a hot wing eating contest.

When the child next door is maltreated, we all suffer. The RAACE Foundation is dedicated to changing that, becauseThe First Step to Prevention is Awareness. Every American has a stake in the well-being of our Nation’s children. They are members of our communities, and they are our future. National Child Abuse Prevention Month provides the opportunity to underscore our commitment to preventing and responding appropriately to child abuse.

“We had been looking for a charity to work with for sometime and seeing that we are in racing it only made sense to partner with a great charity like The RAACE Foundation. Stopping Child Sexual Abuse is a priority for me, my family and our staff. We have several events planned throughout the year to help raise funds so The RAACE Foundation can help us raise awareness, protect our children and educate the Lehigh Valley” said Kristine McCreary Corporate Sales, Fundraising, Party & Event Coordinator at LVGP.

Highlights of the event will be the “RACE for RAACE” and The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce “Chamber Challenge Cup”. In The RACE for RAACE, teams of three will combine a hot wing eating contest and on track race. In the qualification round each team member will race 10 laps on the track, then run inside, eat a few hot wings then tag their team mate, etc… After the last participant eats his wings, the teams 1st participant will race one lap to stop the clock. The ten best times transfer to the feature where the wings get hotter and the time on track gets longer. The top three teams in the feature win prizes and trophies. The “Chamber Challenge Cup” is a prestigious trophy that goes to the top finishing Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce member team. It will be engraved annually with the winner and be passed on from business to business each year and face it, who doesn’t love bragging rights!

The cost of the event per team is $75 for Chamber and TeamRAACE members who pre-register before April 22nd or $90 per team the day of the event. Non members are $90 per team with pre-registration and $105 per team day of event. The fee covers all racing activities for the evening an annual LVGP racing license or renewal (A $30.00 value) which includes one free race, a free race in your birthday month, all of the race gear that you will need and the chicken wings from Texas Roadhouse in Trexlertown, PA. All of the proceeds from The RACE for RAACE and “The Chamber Challenge” go towards The RAACE Foundations awareness and education efforts.

There is plenty of room for everyone and spectators should enjoy the view around the ¼ mile indoor road course where the go-kart action is always fast and furious. “No sport draws families and fans like motorsports” said Brad Brickel, Director of Development for The RAACE Foundation. “We are very excited about this year’s event – it should be a lot of fun and very informational” Brickel added.

Yet the roar of the engines, the heat of the wings, the speed of the racers, and the cheers of the fans can’t eliminate the pain of a child suffering from sexual abuse. But with the help of racers, fans, and organizations like The Lehigh Valley Grand Prix, The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and Texas Roadhouse of Trexlertown, PA; The RAACE Foundation can educate adults so no other child has to suffer the same silent fate.
