Overcoming Office Blues-Getting Healthy
It’s safe to say that the majority of the working class isn’t the most up to speed when it comes to their own health and well-being. That being said, here are a few tips on how to overcome the “office blues” by getting healthy. You can easily be more health conscious throughout the day and work week.
Hydration is Numero Uno!
We all know coffee is, for most people, is the life fuel that keeps us going throughout the day. Caffeine can help us, just as quickly as it can hurt us. Over using caffeinated products whether it be soda, coffee, or tea will give you a short boost you need, but certainly not be able to carry you throughout the day. This will ultimately result in some sort of a “crash” which means your metabolism comes to a crashing halt and you become overwhelmingly lethargic.
Drinking water is the absolute best way to getting healthy and fit. Maintaining a constant flush of your system and keeping your body functioning at constant efficiency is important throughout the day. Do yourself a favor and create a “reward” system. For every cup of cup of coffee or soda you drink, you must drink at least 12oz of water. Repeat this for every time you decide to load up on some caffeinated beverage.
Flushing your system by drinking water will keep your body happy and your vitals in check all while getting you through your workday. So, drink up! Just make sure you follow it up with H2O!
Double Down and Move Around
Get up, stretch your legs, and walk. Sir Isaac Newton said it best, “A body in motion stays in motion. A body at rest stays at rest.” This is a fundamental idea when it comes to movement and getting healthy and fit. Although we can be sure he wasn’t referring to someone working a desk job when he made this scientific discovery. We can be sure that this ideology does relate to the workforce. Moving around consistently will help with blood flow, joint health, and mental stamina. Keeping your eyes adjusting to different colors and depths helps keeps brain activity functioning fluidly.
The Munchies Are a Good Thing for Getting Healthy (Quality vs. Quantity)
No matter what you think, eating good, quality, healthy food consistently is a good thing. The more you eat the better you feel. Vitamins, nutrients and minerals that your body produces or needs to produce can be found organically in fruits, vegetables, nuts, and meats. By snacking on these foods that aren’t processed, full of sugar, saturated fat, and sodium then you begin to give your metabolism a chance to burn while it works. This process is critical in running a cleaner, more efficient, organ system that allows your body to actually lose excess fat as you sit still. So, eat your carrots, munch on your almonds, slice your cucumbers, and make yourself a fruit salad.
These are all completely doable tips to a great, healthy working lifestyle. If now you can do a couple these tips with 20-30 minutes of cardio a day you will be surprised at how energized you will start to feel, and how refreshed your body will become! These tips are a great way to keep the weight off and keep you away from the doctor.
