Lehigh Valley Grand Prix, the regions premiere indoor karting venue has been granted the unique opportunity to host the Media Launch event for Pocono Raceway’s IndyCar 400 race on July 7th.  IndyCar has selected Marco Andretti as the driver promoting the event.  The driver selection makes complete sense due to the fact that Marco resides in Nazareth, Pa.

The Media Launch event will take place on May 8th at 1:30 pm.  Marco will be racing and interviewing with the media until approximately 3:30pm.  At 3:30pm he will be available for pictures and autographs with fans.

The IndyCar 400 is the first IndyCar race held at Pocono Raceway since 1989.  The raceway has undertaken major changes in the past two years after the passing of the famous Doc Mattioli.  Doc’s grandson’s Brandon and Nick Igdalsky have taken the reins and have been aggressive with renovating the track and adding races to the 2 famous NASCAR events.  The tri oval was resurfaced in 2012 leading the way for hosting this major IndyCar event.

The age requirement to race at Lehigh Valley Grand Prix has dropped to 8 years of age!  The age for the Jr karts is now 8-14 years of age and the requirements for the adult Super Karts is 15 years of age and older.

Now you don’t have to wait to be 10 to enjoy LVGP!  The track does require proof of age for younger drivers so be sure to bring a copy of your birth certificate to race!

LVGP is converting their fleet of karts from 6.5hp Honda engines to 9hp Honda engines.  This change will give customers the opportunity to race the fastest indoor concession karts in the U.S. with no prior qualifications!  The release date is scheduled for Feb 1st, 2013.

“We are always striving to offer the ultimate racing experience here at LVGP.  We felt that the change was neccessary to continue to improve our product.  We have tested the converted karts to make sure that there were no safety concerns and we are confident this will only enhance what we offer at LVGP,” said Mike McCreary owner at LVGP.

The new 9hp engines will give better torque to drivers and will make the heavy guys a little happier with their lap times!  The decision to continue to use Sodi gas powered karts was made due to the fact that they are still the best product on the market.  Sodi is the #1 kart manufacturer in the world and their products can be found at all the major indoor karting competitions.

At Lehigh Valley Grand Prix our philosophy is simple “We Are Racing!”  Being a racing facility safety is always a priority but it is also a priority to offer the best RACING EXPERIENCE POSSIBLE.  Therefore, we do not tune your karts down, limit your speeds or force you to qualify for higher speeds in our adult karts.  We give you our best, the moment you walk in the door.

Our karts are being converted this week to the 9hp SUPER KARTS to offer you the fastest indoor concession karts in the country.  The goal is to go fast and have fun!  Remember if you don’t respect the other drivers or karts than you may be flagged accordingly.  The choice is yours on how fast you want to go and we will not take that privilege away from you unless you break the rules!!

Schools will be letting out soon, Companies are holding their holiday parties and the shopping is already in full swing….unless you are like me and wait until the 24th at 6pm to get started!  The planning will soon to begin for what to do when the entire family is in town!  If your family is the type that will be bouncing off the walls and looking for an escape we have the perfect solution!

Not Everyone is into getting behind the wheel and we understand?  That is why LVGP now offers a full kitchen and bar.  Grandma and Grandpa can grab a glass of wine and cheer the kids and family as the rip around the track!  There are also a few arcade games to take advantage of as well for the younger children.

Lehigh Valley Grand Prix, Prudential Patt White & Burkholder’s Heating & Air Condition teamed up to collect gifts for children this past month.  The companies joined in on 29th Annual Toy Run in Allentown held by A.B.A.T.E. (Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education).

Thousands of bikers met at Dorney Park for the annual Toy Run which goes down Hamilton St in Allentown and finishes at the VFW located on Union St.  Each biker had in hand a gift for a child this holiday season.  Residents and visitors gather along Hamilton St each year to watch the parade of bikes pass by.   It is a beautiful sight to see what people can do for each other.

The team of LVGP, Patt White & Burkholder’s stuffed a SUV with all the toys they collected and lead the parade of bikers.  At the VFW, Dolores, who has been with Center & Turning Point of Lehigh Valley for 42 years greeted the group with tears streaming down her face.  The tears and hugs brought the group to tears as well as everyone rejoiced.

This holiday season I recommend you take that extra step to do something nice for someone less fortunate.  The overwhelming joy of giving far exceeds that of receiving.  With the recent trajedies that have hit our region there are more in need than ever.  Please keep them in mind this holiday season.
